2010 ABBIE Awards - Nominations Begin September 13!

The 2010 ABBIES are almost here - beginning September 13, 2010 you can nominate your favorite business in a variety of categories including Best Brunch, Best Customer Service and more! In 2009 more than 5,000 Arlingtonians chose their favorite local businesses and venues in the 2009 People’s Choice Arlington Best Business “ABBIE” Awards. Among the big winners: Whitlow’s on Wilson Bar & Grill won in the categories of Best Neighborhood Bar and Best Happy Hour. Lost Dog Cafe's Columbia Pike location won Best New Business, and both Lost Dog locations picked up awards for Best Family Friendly Restaurant and Best "Bargain" Restaurant. New category winners were ShoeFly for Best Boutique; Carlyle for Best Brunch; the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) for Best Community-Based Nonprofit; and the Tony-award winning Signature Theatre for Best Performing Arts Organization.

The winners in the 15 different ABBIE categories were announced by County Board Chair, Barbara Favola at the November 17, 2009 Board meeting. Click here for a complete list of 2009 award winners. In addition to recognition from the Arlington County Board, ABBIE winners receive a year’s worth of acknowledgment from AED including promotion on the Arlington County Web site, in Arlington e-newsletters, Arlington Virginia Network (AVN) television spots, newspapers advertisements and special placement in the Arlington County Visitors Guide and Map.
